Made Good then Falling...
10:30am this Sunday at The Burlington Music Center

The story gets sad this week.
Shouldn't be a shock to you 'cause your life is part of that story and chances are, your life gets sad some times.
Find out why this week, at THE WELL.
Here's your text:
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?" 2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" 4 But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LordGod called to the man and said to him, "Where are you?" 10 And he said, "I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself." 11 He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?"12 The man said, "The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate." 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this that you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

UPDATE:
We're sorry to inform you that we had technical issues with this morning's sermon. When we went to upload it there was no data. A real shame since there was a genuine sense at THE WELL this morning of God the Holy Spirit present in a palpable way to infuse the preaching of the Bible about Jesus with life and power. We've very sorry to not be able to offer you a second-hand experience of that event.
However...
Because the 'GENESIS' series is a 'series' we felt like we needed to have the content available to you in some form so that you could continue to journey with us as we (in person, and online) are impacted together by the formative story that unfolds in the first 3 chapters of the first book of the Bible.
So...
When Pastor Todd got the call that the sermon had been lost he skipped the tail end of the football game to re-record it for you in his office...
(note the pulpit/hat box and computer/screen for the text...)

The result isn't nearly as special as what happened this morning 'live and in-person' at THE WELL but ,we hope, the content will still be useful and maybe even a little bit inspiring for you nonetheless.
When Todd references the whole 'deliverer' language sequence at the end the sermon, the slide he said he'd throw up for you is this one...

The first word is 'HEESHEE-A-NI'--> he (the serpent) 'drew' me...
The second word is 'HOSHEE-A-NI'--> the example of what happens if you change one letter (the 'yud' to a 'vav' changing the 'ee' sound to a 'oh' sound) which then gives you 'he drew--or saved--me'...
The third word is 'HOSHEE-AH'--> the word for 'to deliver' or 'he delivered' or 'he saved'...
The fourth word is 'MA-SHEE-ACH'--> clearly derived from the words above which means 'Savior' or 'Messiah'.
In this way we find hope (Jesus) hinted at even in the midst of what would otherwise be the most depressing sermon, from the most depressing text ever...
Preached for you a second time, from the basement.
Enjoy.
