Hope...

I've been doing a lot of thinking yesterday and today about the kind of 'business' we're in...
Much of this has to do with having immersed myself in one of my Christmas presents, the biography of Warren Buffet.
It's been blowing my mind...
Particularly his singularity of focus in pursuing the 'thing' he knew he was put on the earth to do.
This has strong resonance for me because 1) I aspire to have ongoing and intensifying singularity of focus and passion for the thing I've been put here to do (preaching the Gospel of Jesus to you) and 2) my hope is that you, through hearing and embracing the Gospel of Jesus will discover your 'place' in this World and that 'thing' that you've been called to do.
All this has made me very pensive today as I prepare to preach for you tomorrow on what is, arguably, my ALL TIME favorite passage from the New Testament. I call it the 'Simeon Sequence' and I preached it as if my heart was about to break and Heaven itself was listening the night I retired from my first Church Plant.
My desire is to be able to preach it again with deepest passion and conviction for you tomorrow because the Gospel matters, you matter and hope matters.
Please pray for tomorrow that Hope comes to visit...
See you at 10:30am.
